A Life Story
Carol W. Dedes, 93, of Savannah, Georgia passed away peacefully at home on October 15, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Carol was born on December 9, 1932, to the late Eugene Gregory Woods and the late Annie May Hunt Woods in Savannah, Georgia. After graduating from Savannah High School in 1951 she married George P. Dedes in 1952, and they were together for over fifty-six years until his death in 2008. Carol loved the role of a devoted military spouse as they lived in many places from Florida to California to Madrid, Spain. Carol was an avid reader, tennis player, and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George. Carol is survived by a daughter Laurie Dubose (Brian) of Summerville, South Carolina; a son James Dedes of Savannah, Georgia; three grandchildren, Jessica Robinson, Bonnie Capps, Ivey Dubose; a great granddaughter, Eden Capps; a great-grandson, Nathan Robinson, all of Summerville, South Carolina. The family is especially thankful for her many wonderful caregivers including Phyllis, Rebecca, Patrice, Patricia and Cora. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Fox & Weeks, Islands Chapel beginning at 2:00 p.m. until just prior to the service. A graveside funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Abbey East. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Savannah.
