A Life Story

Catherine Anne Porzio Strickland, age 84, of Richmond Hill, died on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at her residence under the care of Hospice Savannah and surrounded by her loving family. Catherine was born on December 17, 1941, in Savannah, to the late Louis Porzio Sr. and the late Frances Benino Porzio. She was a graduate of St. Vincent's Academy and attended Blessed Sacrament and St. James the Less Catholic Church. She worked with CSX railroad for twenty plus years. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping, was an avid gardener, and loved to travel. Catherine was a spit fire, a great cook, and was very proud to be Italian. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, James Lynn Moore Sr. and Harold Cassidy Strickland Jr.; three brothers and one great-grandchild, Waylon Thomas Greenwood. She is survived by her children, James Lynn Moore Jr. and his wife Debbie, Christy Greenwood and her husband Joe, and Alan Strickland and his wife Frannie; her grandchildren, Jennifer Molpus and her husband Steven, Amy Lovell and her husband Dale, Gil Walls, Joey Greenwood Jr. and his wife Haley, Cassidy Miller and her husband Branden, Emily Marie Moore, James Lynn Moore, III, Caitlin, Harrison, and Elijah Strickland; thirteen great-grandchildren, one great- great grandchild; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 noon until just prior to the service on Saturday afternoon, August 29, 2026, at Fox & Weeks Hodgson Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Hodgson Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenwich Cemetery.
