A Life Story

Dorothy Ann West, age 79, of Savannah passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025.Mrs. West, a native of Savannah was born on October 10, 1945, the daughter of the late OC and Dorothy Woods. She was a 1963 graduate of Robert W. Groves High School. She later completed the nursing program at Memorial Hospital in 1976. She served as an LPN with Memorial Medical Center and later as a nurse with Juliette Low School. She was a longtime member White Bluff United Methodist Church and has been a very active member of ConneXion Church (formerly Cokesbury United Methodist Church) since 1979. She enjoyed traveling and crafting, especially scrapbooking, cross stitching, and quilting, but above all she loved being a Nanny and GG to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Mrs. West is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, David M. West; daughters, Suzanne Grothe (Alan), Nancy Cranford (Loren), Heather West, and Bracken Edwards; brother, Jake Woods; grandchildren, Courtney, Lynsey, Claire, Emma, Maisie, Carolyn, and Amanda; grandchildren by marriage, Ben and Kayla; and great-grandchildren, Austin, Layla, Zayden, Sophia, and Sumner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jay "Tank" Edwards.A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at ConneXion Church, 5411 Skidaway Road, Savannah, GA 31406. The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.Burial will follow the funeral service at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or ConneXion Church.
