A Life Story

Elsa Games Beaumont passed away peacefully at her home in Savannah, Georgia, on October 25th, 2024. She was 92.Elsa was born on December 17, 1931, to Harry and Zena Games in Liverpool, England. At the age of eight, she was sent as an evacuee to Chester, England, to escape the Liverpool Blitz of World War II before being joined by her parents and permanently settling in the city.It was in Chester that she met her beloved Thomas Wilson (Tom) Beaumont Jr, who was stationed in the city as part of his service in the United States Air Force. The two were introduced on a blind date, and shortly afterwards, Tom asked Elsa to "meet him at the Town Hall" for another date. As Elsa so often and so fondly recounted, "the rest is history."Soon after meeting, Elsa and Tom were married, and Elsa left all she knew behind in England to begin a life in the United States. Throughout their married life, Tom's military service transported the couple around the world-including Texas, California, France, Scotland, Florida, and ultimately, Georgia-during which time they were blessed with four children: Madeline, Thomas (Tommy), Michael, and Jennifer.Although born and raised Jewish, Elsa encountered the Catholic faith through her marriage to Tom and converted in her adult life to Catholicism, after which point she committed herself wholeheartedly in service of Christ and the Church-especially through her home parish of Saint Frances Cabrini, where she remained involved and treasured throughout her time as a Catholic.Elsa lived her life in constant service of others. Much of her mail consisted of calendars and stamps from the countless charities to which she donated. She was an active and beloved member of many different organizations, including Savannah's local British Wives Club and the choir of Saint Frances Cabrini.Elsa was full of zest and wit and was known for her many entertaining stories, costumes, and skits, which she would often flaunt at church events, family reunions, Halloween parties, and celebrations at her retirement home, Savannah Square. She was never known to shy away from making people laugh, and her innumerable friends will remember the endless happiness she brought them.Furthermore, Elsa adored her children and grandchildren, who were her greatest joys in life. Her family members will remember her ceaseless commitment to, engagement with, and generosity towards them, as she loved nothing more than spending time with her loved ones baking, flying kites, sharing stories, and serving as a loving "Mom" and "Nana."Elsa's absence will be felt deeply by all who have been blessed to call her part of their lives, but they can take comfort knowing she is finally reunited with "her Tom," for whom she yearned each and every day of the twenty-two years in which they were separated.Elsa is predeceased by her parents Harry and Zena Games, her husband Thomas Wilson Beaumont Jr, her son Michael John Beaumont, her brother Gordon Games, and her granddaughter Rachel Leigh Beaumont. She is survived by her children Madeline Susan Wirt (Robbie), Thomas Wilson Beaumont III (Terri), and Jennifer Beaumont Lossing (Matthew), her grandchildren Elizabeth Anne Martin (Seth), Matthew Thomas Wirt (Emily), Jacob Thomas Beaumont, Ryley Amanda Beaumont, Rebecca Jeanne Beaumont, Victoria Anne Beaumont, Madeline Jane Lossing, Thomas Beaumont Lossing, and Anna Claire Lossing, her great-grandchildren Maelyn Grace Martin, Kayleigh Paige Beaumont, Aurora Leigh Beaumont, Magnolia Blythe Martin, Aliyah Marie Beaumont, and Everett Thomas Wirt, her brother David Allen Games, daughter-in-law Janet White Beaumont (Michael), sister-in-law Madeline Beamont Peterson (Tom), and countless nieces and nephews.A visitation for Elsa and her family will be held at Fox and Weeks on Hodgson Memorial on Thursday, November 7, from 5:00-7:00 PM. Her funeral Mass will be held at Saint Frances Cabrini Catholic Church on Friday, November 8 at 11:00 AM, followed by a burial in the Catholic Cemetery on President Street.
