Jerry Ray Wood, aged 68, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 20, 2026, in his residence in Garden City, Georgia, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on September 17, 1957, in Lyons, Georgia, Jerry was a cherished member of the community known for his unyielding spirit, humor, and warmth. Jerry was the beloved father to Christopher "Chris" Wood, Sheena Way, and Celeste Wood. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Cassidy Wood, Earl Jay Way, IV "Jay Bird", Abigail Morgan, Annabelle Morgan, Ian Way "Jack Wagon", Layla Williams "Monkey Squirt", and his adorable great-granddaughter, Aralynn Way. He also leaves behind his forever friend Marie Strickland, along with her children Joe and Lyndsey, and many other family members and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly. A man of many talents and interests, Jerry had an infectious sense of humor. His skillful play on words could light up any room, and he took great joy in making others smile and laugh. Known for his love of fishing, cooking, dancing, and maintaining his impeccable hair, Jerry brought zest and joy into everything he did. Crossword puzzles were a favorite pastime, challenging his mind and fueling his curiosity. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Wood and Barbara Osbourne Wood. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Jerry’s life on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel, 2794 US Highway 80 West, Garden City, GA 31408, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the funeral service following at 4:30 p.m. His burial will be private at Gravel Hill Cemetery.
