    A Life Story

Jerry Wayne McElreath was the 2nd of seven born in 1938 to Rosa Bell and Ernest McElreath in Atlanta. In describing himself, he would proudly proclaim: father of two beloved children, Lisa and Kirk; husband of Vicki and Elevator Man. His loves also included his five amazing grandchildren (Skylar, Celeigh, Raya, Hawk and Hudson), his surviving siblings (Nick, Carolyn, Sue, Vedie and Vickie Lynn) with whom he spoke almost daily and his beagle, Daisy. He also considered his closest friends (Connie, Sue and Jerry and Bert and Josh) so important in his life.In his day, he enjoyed golfing and fishing and was a talented athlete. Friends and family delighted in his clever and quick wit followed by a hearty laugh. He was considered masterful regarding anything and everything to do with elevators and escalators.Jerry passed away on January 20, 2025 at his home in Savannah, sharing his view of the birds, the marsh and the river with family. His request was for a private ceremony in Atlanta with family and close friends. Please consider Union Mission of Savannah for any remembrances.
