A Life Story
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved father, John W. (Johnny) Tucker, Jr.Johnny passed away August 27, 2024, peacefully at his home after a month-long battle with gastric cancer. He was 81 years old. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Linda Jones Tucker, his parents, John W. Tucker, Sr., Bob and Thelma Turner, and his siblings, Wanda Turner and Howard Turner.He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters Karen (Ed) Smulski and Amy (Marc) Belscamper, 5 grandchildren, Ashley (Danny) Devine, Shelby (Dillon) Duff, Matt (Sabrina) Smulski, Tucker and Mary Reagan Belscamper, 8 great grandchildren, Gracelyn and Lathe Devine, Aiden, Tyler and Wyatt Smulski, and Davis, Addie, and Charli Duff. He also leaves siblings Bobby (Cindy), Petie (Janice), Paul (Cynthia), Lorrie (Mike) and Brenda. Mourning the loss of their blitz buddy, are the Tuesday and Friday senior blitz guys of Mary Calder Golf Course. After losing Linda, these men filled Johnny's life with adventures, love and laughter. His daughters will be forever grateful for the joy they brought to his life.Born in Dundee, Florida he later moved to Savannah and graduated in the 1962 class of Savannah High School. He maintained friendships with many of the people he grew up with off Garrard Avenue in Savannah. In 2002, he retired from American Cyanamid /Kemira /Kerr McGee/Tronox as an industrial electrician and went on to work with AMAK Electric. He worked with and mentored many great electricians, especially Ricky White and Bart Wilson, whom he loved like his own children.Johnny was a man of immense wisdom and humor, cherishing every moment he spent with his family or on the golf course with his friends. He was known for his giving spirit, sense of humor, and was always ready to lend a helping hand to whomever needed it. He will always be remembered for his pound cakes and other treats he shared with those he loved.Abiding by the wishes of Johnny, as his girls (mostly) did, there will be no funeral service. To honor the life of this great man who was loved by so many, he asked that you live your life by Matthew 7:12 as he always strived to do.
