A Life Story

Mrs. Margaret Idell Smith "Pete", 91, of Pooler, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024.Margaret was born in Savannah, Georgia and has lived in Chatham County all of her life. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Presley Mayton; her parents, James Bacon and Nellie Shearouse Bacon; her sister, Dorothy Stokes, and her brother, James "Dick" Bacon. Margaret was a proud school bus driver, having driven the kids of Pooler and West Chatham for over 30 years. She was a member of South Newington Baptist Church and enjoyed her long retirement with Roy, gardening, traveling, camping, and fishing. She is going to be missed.Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Roy T. Smith; son, Michael Presley; daughter, Lisa Fletcher (Scotty); step-sons, Jeff Smith and Brian Smith; grandchildren, Shannon Presley (Stephanie), Nicholas Fletcher, Miranda Fletcher, Zachary Presley, Joshua Presley (Amy), Summer Presley, and Courtney Presley; step-grandchildren, Wyatt Smith, Waylon Smith, Tessa Smith, and Payton Smith; seventeen grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.The visitation will be on Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral to honor Margaret's life will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.Thomas C.
