A Life Story

Marguerite Anderson was born in 1932 in Jeff Davis County, Georgia, to Bill and Mildred Graham. She was raised on the family farm as the oldest of eight children, taking on responsibility from an early age by helping care for her younger siblings while excelling in school and community life. As a teenager, Marguerite enjoyed sewing, cooking, and playing basketball. Her dedication to learning earned her the distinction of graduating at the top of her class from Hazlehurst High School. At just 19 years old, she married Benny Carter, and together they made their home in Savannah, Georgia, where they raised two sons, Gary and Brian. After her sons were grown, Marguerite began a successful career at Gulfstream Aerospace, where she worked until her retirement. Later in life, she married Andy Anderson, with whom she shared many happy years. Marguerite is the proud mother of two sons and grandmother of many grandchildren. She is remembered for her love of cooking and baking, nurturing plants, caring for her beloved cats, and her deep faith. She was an active member of her church and found great joy in singing in the choir. Her life was a testament to hard work, devotion to family, and a quiet strength that touched all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Savannah. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
