    A Life Story

Marsha Tenenbaum Kessler passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, at the age of 81. Born in Savannah in 1945 to her beloved parents, Ralph and Pauline Tenenbaum, she graduated from Savannah High School and went on to live a full and meaningful life surrounded by the family and friends who meant everything to her. On December 16, 1973, she married the love of her life, Andre Kessler, who preceded her in death in 2019. A devoted homemaker, Marsha expressed her love through caring for others, always making sure everyone was fed and welcomed. She will be especially remembered for her warmth, generosity, and her famous matzah ball soup, which brought comfort and joy to so many. Marsha’s “happy place” was Tybee Island, where she spent countless cherished moments throughout her life, finding peace and joy by the sea. Marsha is survived by her loving children, Gena Hindman (Rusty) and Laurence Kessler (Lindsay); her siblings, Barbara Hacken (Mark), Sheldon Tenenbaum (Zelda), and Bert Tenenbaum (Nancy),; and her cherished grandchildren, Samuel, Benjamin, Joseph, and Jordyn. She will also be missed dearly by all of the cousins, nieces, and nephews who she loved so dearly. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah. Shiva will be observed at the home of Laurence and Lindsay Kessler on Wednesday, May 6, and Thursday, May 7, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend.
