A Life Story

Mary Elizabeth Register George, age 100, passed away in her home peacefully on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.Mrs. George was born on April 29, 1924 in Savannah to the late Joseph Anthony Register and the late Christine E. Clarke Register. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas F. George; and siblings, Joseph A. Register, Jr., Carmel R. Groover, Dorothy R. Holland, and Patricia R. McCarthy. She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and worked for Continental Can Company for over 30 years. After her retirement, she and Nick enjoyed spending time in the north Georgia mountains. Appreciating the value of family, she always remembered to send birthday and Christmas cards to her nieces and nephews. She loved to garden, bake and frequent flea markets.A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens (315 Greenwich Road, Savannah, GA 31404).In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org/donate) or a charity of your choice.
