Roy Otis White Sr., 82, of Guyton, GA passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.A native of Savannah, Georgia, he was the son of the late Carter Wiseman White and Janie Miller White.Roy was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who loved his family with all his heart. He was also a lover of music, and at one time played in a country and western band. He loved to tell stories, and he had a lot of them, to anyone who would listen. Of all of the things he loved, his greatest love was for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.Roy was a manager in the meat department at Kroger and retired after 30 years of service.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa White Hudson and sister, Jane White Ruth.Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Gladys Darlene Knight White; sons, Roy O. White, Jr., James C. White, Sr. (Lucy) and John D. White, Sr. (Simone); grandchildren, Roxanne N. Aldridge (Jarred), Tiffany Blankenship, Carter White, John D. White, Jr., Virginia L. Hesling (Cooper), Caroline G. White, Sierra Asuncion, Summer Asuncion, Selena Asuncion, Daniel Butler; eleven great-grandchildren; siblings, Gary L. White (Kathy) and Vicky J. Moody (Billy); and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.Funeral Services will be held at 10am on Saturday, August 31, 2024 in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Calvin Bradley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
