A Life Story
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shawn Ray Farley, a beloved father, brother, educator, musician, and friend. Shawn passed away peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2026, at the age of 77. Shawn was born on September 30, 1948, in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, to Ray and Maude Farley. He later attended Wilkes University, where his love of music continued to grow and became the foundation of a lifelong career in music and education. On May 24, 1975, Shawn married the love of his life, Linda D’Antonio. Together, they built a loving life and welcomed their daughter, Shawna Rae, in December 1980. Shawn and Linda shared many happy years before her passing, and he deeply cherished the life they created together. Throughout his life, Shawn worked as a band director, teacher, and salesman, always finding ways to share his knowledge and love of music with others. He spent 30 years as a valued member of the Portman’s Music family in Savannah, Georgia, where he was known not only for his musical expertise but also for his humor, kindness, and friendly spirit. One of Shawn’s proudest musical memories was playing the trumpet during a halftime show for his favorite football team, the Philadelphia Eagles. However, his greatest legacy can be found in the countless students, musicians, friends, and family members he encouraged and inspired throughout his life. Shawn was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Maude Farley, and his beloved wife, Linda A. Farley. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Shawna Rae Farley, and her husband, Cecil Thompson, of Pooler, Georgia; his brother, Victor Costantino; and his beloved dog and faithful companion, Chet. He also leaves behind many friends, former students, colleagues, and loved ones who will forever cherish his memory. Shawn will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on through the family he loved, the lives he touched, and the music he shared. Those who knew him will remember his kindness, his laughter, and the joy he brought to others. Visitation will be held at Gamble Funeral Service in Savannah, Georgia, on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. A memorial service celebrating Shawn’s life will immediately follow from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gamble Funeral Service.
