    A Life Story

    William Eugene Bethune, Sr. 90, of Kennesaw, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on October 13, 2024.Mr. Bethune was born on April 17, 1934 in Augusta, Georgia. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church of Savannah, Georgia. Mr. Bethune served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He worked for Sugar Transport in Port Wentworth for twenty years.He was greatly loved by his family and extended family. The greatest loves of his life were his Savior, his wife, his children and family.He is preceded in death by his parents, Coy Cornelius Bethune and Grace Austin; his loving wife, Bertie; a son, Gene Bethune; a daughter, Gail McDaniel; two sons-in-law, David McDaniel and Joe Prevatte; three sisters, Betty Harmon, Cheryl Burbank. and Joan Triest.He is survived by two sons, Brad Quackenbush (Tammy) of Rincon, Georgia and John Bethune (Tammy) of Madison Heights, Virginia; two daughters, Margerite Prevatte of Tarheel, North Carolina and Shelby Cadwallader (Tom) of Kennesaw, Georgia; loving nieces, Crystal Thornton (Bo) and Donna Miller (Kevin); twenty grandchildren, fifty three great grandchildren and one on the way; two great great grandchildren and one on the way.Visitation will be held Friday morning, October 18, 2024, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Bible Baptist Church (4700 Skidaway Road Savannah, GA 31404).A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church.Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey West (1336 Dean Forest Road Savannah, GA 31405).In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Building Fund at Bible Baptist Church of Savannah (4700 Skidaway Road Savannah, GA 31404).Arrangements are under the direction of Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel.
