    A Life Story

    Rincon – William James Sapp, 86, passed away July 19, 2026 at Memorial Health. The Chatham County native graduated from Groves High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1960. He retired from Norfolk Southern after 40 years of service and enjoyed woodworking having made a curio cabinet for his daughter and numerous pieces for his wife. He was preceded in death by his parents, James F. and Mildred Harvey Sapp; and sisters, Carolyn Sapp Lutes and Patricia Sapp McDougal. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Sapp; daughter, Teleaha Rhodes (Dave); son, Keith Sapp; grandson, Dylan Rowell; sister, Linda Figal; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at Rincon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the American Cancer Society in memory of his mother and sister.
