Springfield – Dennis R. Casto, 73, passed away August 17, 2026 at his residence. The Tennessee native served in the U.S. Army for 20 years and retired as a SSG. He then owned and operated several paint and body shops where his passion was working on old cars. He was a member of the Elam-Egypt Baptist Church, the Springfield Masonic Lodge & 440 F. & A.M. and the Alee Shriners. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis Ralph Casto and Sylvia Martin Casto. Survivors include his wife, Cynthia “Dale” Helmly Casto; son, Dennis Otis Warren Casto; grandchildren, Demitrius Joseph Casto and Adalyn Marie Casto; step-children, Daniel E. Smith (Stephanie), Dennis E. Smith, April Smith, Rachel Smith, Traci Smith, Jamie Roof, and Jason Pino; step-grandchildren, Brandon Smith, Christian Smith, Daylynn Smith, James Smith, Summer Kelton, Leland Payer, Mattie Smith, Alex Benner, Victoria “Tori” Smith, Jayden Padron, and Emily “Emma” Padron; great-granddaughter, Malora Griffin; brothers, Donald Casto (Connie) and Dexter Casto (Denise), Donna Casto, Debra Williams (Randy), and Doris Myers; and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2026 followed by funeral services at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
