A Life Story
Mr. Fred M. Alderman, age 90, of Savannah, died Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at his residence, under the care of Hospice of Savannah and surrounded by his loving family. Fred was born on May 26, 1936, to the late James Alderman and the late Eunice Johns Jarriel and was raised at Bethesda Boys Home. He served in the United States Army and was employed with Duris Bakery as a truck driver for twenty plus years. Fred was a house parent at Bethesda for many years. He attended Lifesprings Worship Center and in his spare time he enjoyed fishing, playing half rubber, and spending time with his family and friends. Fred especially loved playing softball and loved telling jokes. In addition, to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of thirty years, Shirley McDowell Alderman and his siblings, Tim Alderman, Jimmy Alderman, and Ruby Alderman. He is survived by his four children, Fred Alderman Jr., Patricia Alderman, Judith Ann Adams, and Harold Alderman; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. The Celebration of Fred's life will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Whitefield Chapel at Bethesda from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m.
