Gardenia “Denia” Jones Tuten, 88, of Savannah, Georgia passed away Friday evening, August 28, 2026, at Azalealand Nursing Home. Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Milton Jim Jones and the late Mary Etta Daughtery. Mrs. Tuten was a member of Central Church of Christ. She was a homemaker and helped her husband operate Tuten’s Fishing Camp until it closed in 2014. She loved to fish, crab, shrimp, garden, play Bingo, and spend time with family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Manasse Henry Tuten, Jr. as well as daughter, Brenda Ann Tuten, who died at the age of 3-1/2 years old from leukemia. Surviving are her two daughters, Cheryl Kay Horton(husband Ron Horton) and Virginia “Ginger” Ann Smith (husband Earnest “Snuffy” Smith); three grandchildren, Jennifer Ann Edgerly (husband Mike Edgerly), Matthew Kyle Smith, and Dr. Andrew Horton; one great-grandchild, Michael Anthony Edgerly all of Savannah, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock Monday evening at Gamble Funeral Service – 410 Stephenson Avenue. The funeral will be held at 10 o’clock Tuesday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by Pastor David Laughner. Interment will be for the immediate family only in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
