    A Life Story

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William Pate Jacobs Jr., a beloved husband, father, and friend, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at the age of 72. Bill was born on September 3, 1953 in Savannah, Georgia. He also lived in Milledgeville and Macon where he met and married his beloved wife Sharon Jacobs. He worked as orderly in ER and earned his EMT certification, and continued as an EMT as he attended ABAC in Tifton, Georgia. Upon Bill's return to Savannah, he worked for Chatham County EMS until he went to work for Georgia Port Authority for 35 years. Bill became a Mason on March 23, 1981 and a Shriner on June 4, 1994. He was active with both fraternities. Bill was a vibrant old soul. He was outgoing and kind hearted, the type of man who would give you the shirt off his back. He loved tennis and golf, and coaching his children in sports. Above all else, he loved his family, always putting them first. Although his presence will be deeply missed, Bill leaves behind a legacy of love with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Nichols and Katherine Rose Nichols, and his son William Pate Jacobs III. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sharon Jacobs; daughters, Billie Walker (Peter) and Sammye Jacobs; brother, Donald Lee Nichols; sisters, Katherine Kirila (Mike) and Renee Walder; grandchildren, Malachi Anthony Jacobs and Alexandria Pili Walker; as well as nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 3, 2026, what would be Bill's 73rd birthday, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Ga 31406. A memorial service will follow in the chapel at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to The Morris Slotin Fund, c/o Alee Shriners, PO Box 14147, Savannah, GA 31416.
