Mr. George David Hammond, 71 of Guyton, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Candler Hospital. David will be missed by his wife, Debra Hammond; sister, Virginia Swanson (Ron); brother, Bert Hammond (Teresa); sister-in-law, Pam Hammond; nieces and nephews, Amber ( Jim), James (Christie), Michael (Laura), Priscilla, Bert (Lawana), Peggy Michelle and William; step-daughters, Tonya Malphus and April Mikell (Patrick); step-grandchildren, Kayden Garrish, Tiphanie Banks, Peyton Mikell, and Jacob Mikell; step-great-grandson, Wren. David was born in Savannah, Georgia and was preceded in death by his first wife, Nola Ann Hammond; parents, George W. and Joanne Helmly Hammond; brother, William Hammond. He retired from International Paper and was currently employed with BD Landscaping. He was a member of New Hope Christian Church and will be remembered for being a hard worker. The visitation will be on Monday, July 13, 2026 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The funeral to honor David’s life will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Brad Proudfoot officiating. The active pallbearers will be Michael Best, James Best, Frankie Blitch, Peyton Mikell, Jacob Mikell, and Bucky Cawley. The honorary pallbearers will be Jr Hammond, Randy Oliver, Robbie Gault, and William Hammond. The burial will follow in Guyton Cemetery. Thomas C.
