    A Life Story

    Guyton – Theresa Hodges Martin, 94, passed away July 5, 2026 at her residence. The Chatham County native was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Port Wentworth where she was active in the Ladies Circle and involved in many church activities that she dearly loved. She worked in accounting most of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Leslie Hodges, Sr. and Doris Sheppard Hodges; son, Andrew Bynes Martin, Sr.; and brother and sister-in-law, Vernon L. Hodges, Jr. “Sonny” and Faye Hodges. Survivors include her children, Ann M. Groover, Doug Martin (Virginia), and Julie M. Vaughn (Davy); daughter-in-law, Dana Martin; grandchildren, Shelley Wilkins (Kevin), Bryan Martin (Anna), Justin Scholl (Ashley), Davy Vaughn (Brittany), Stephen Vaughn (Anna), Andrew Martin (Alayna), and Andrea Froehlich (Sheldon); 14 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Alyssa, Shelby, MacKayla, D.J., Reis, Ayden, Asher, Atley, Charlotte, Arlee, Isabella, Tucker, & Lillian; special nieces, Toni Davis and Leslie Tipton; special neighbors, “Uncle” and Marie Tucker; and several other nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Port Wentworth followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to First Baptist Church of Port Wentworth.
