A Life Story
Larry Gale Allen March 3, 1948 – June 8, 2026 Larry Gale Allen, 78, of Savannah, Georgia, was called home on June 8, 2026. Born on March 3, 1948, in Savannah, Larry lived a life defined by faithful service — to his community, his family, and God. Larry dedicated over three decades to protecting and serving the citizens of Savannah as an officer with the Savannah Police Department, where he served with distinction from 1970 to 2001. His commitment to his community was matched only by his devotion to his family. On June 22, 1974, Larry married the love of his life, Myra (Beasley) Allen, and together they built a home full of love, laughter, and faith. Their marriage of nearly 52 years was a testament to commitment and grace. In his years away from the badge, Larry could often be found on the golf course or in the kitchen — two passions he pursued with equal joy. Larry was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church for over 50 years. He was never shy about his love for the Lord, and those who knew him saw that faith lived out in his generosity, his kindness, and his fierce devotion to those he loved. Larry is preceded in death by his mother, Martha (Griner) Allen, and his father, David Smith Allen. He is survived by his beloved wife, Myra Allen; his brother, David Allen; his daughters, Sarah Devescovi (Luke) and Courtney Priebe (Greg); and his eight grandchildren, Caden, Cohen, Rachel, and Anily Devescovi, and Harrison, Jude, Miles, and Davis Priebe. He was immeasurably proud of each one. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23
