A Life Story

Meredith McCorkle, age 51, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2026. Meredith was born in Savannah, Georgia on July 21, 1974, to the late Robert Lee McCorkle, Jr. and Sandrae Jenness McCorkle. She attended St. Andrews School and graduated with a B.S. in Education and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from the Mary Frances Early College of Education at the University of Georgia. Meredith was an elementary school teacher for more than 20 years in the Savannah Chatham County Public School System including Spencer Elementary School and Largo-Tibet Elementary School. Following retirement, Meredith found a love for crafting. She was always looking for more oyster shells and collecting fabrics and napkins for her projects. She started her own business, Ocean Remnants, selling her crafted goods around Savannah and on-line. Meredith is survived by her brother Robert L. McCorkle, III and sister-in-law Laurel Williams McCorkle of Savannah, Georgia, and her niece and nephew Katherine Feriby McCorkle and Robert Lee McCorkle, IV. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, July 27th at Fox & Weeks Funeral Home at 7200 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia. Joint funeral services for Meredith and her mother Sandrae will be held at the same Fox & Weeks location at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 28th.
