    A Life Story

Richard Barry Meeks died after a short illness surrounded by his family. Ricky was born on Jan 13, 1964 to Richard and Jackie Meeks. He was raised in Pooler, Ga with his brother Stanley Meeks. He leaves to honor his memory Vicki, who he was married to for 36 years, along with his children Olivia and Jesse Osborne, Ben and Mikaela Meeks, and Nolan and Jessica Meeks. He leaves his precious grandchildren Grant Osborne, Nora Osborne, Ryann Osborne, Beau Meeks and Graham Meeks. He has been a member of Garden City United Methodist Church for 36 years. Ricky worked in the warehouse and import/export business, ending his career with Reefer Express. He spent that last part of his career working for a wonderful company, and he loved the people he worked for and with. Ricky played baseball at Armstrong State University. He has enjoyed lifelong friendships with their coach, Joe Roberts, and his teammates. He was inducted into the ASU hall of fame in 2017. Ricky loved hunting. He was an avid deer hunter and member of the "Git em" hunting club for 25+ years. He also enjoyed turkey hunting. His claim to fame was that he killed two birds with one shot. His last few years he loved watching his grandson Grant play baseball, basketball, and football. He enjoyed hearing duck hunting stories from Ben and Nolan. One of his greatest joys was spending time with Olivia and Nora. They loved to laugh together. He loved talking about reality tv with his girls: Olivia, Mikaela and Jessica. Beau has been his main entertainment for the past 2 years. And nothing made Ricky smile more than his precious and newest grandchildren Graham and Ryann. The service to honor Ricky's life will be on January 31st at 4:30 at the First Baptist Church of Garden City with visitation to follow. The family has been overwhelmed with the outpouring of love from friends and family. The food, money, visits, and prayers have helped with this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be given to the Garden City United Methodist Church, 62 Varnedoe Avenue, Garden City, GA 31408.Thomas C.
