    Richard John DeBorde Jr, a dedicated Respiratory Therapist and a proud member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, passed away on September 1, 2024, in Savannah, Ga at the age of 86. Born on April 29, 1938, Richard was known for his unwavering commitment to helping others and his love for the sea.Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Cecilia, his two children, James DeBorde (Lisa DeBorde) and Veronica DeBorde (Jeff Powell) as well as his three loving grandchildren, Christina Bourgeois-Peltier (James Bourgeois) Joshua Peltier (Julie Peltier) and Benjamin DeBorde (Michelle DeBorde), two great-grandchildren, Jenna Peltier and Rebecca Bourgeois-Peltier, his sister Laura Jaugstetter, and nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his sister Nancy Valenti, oldest grandchild, James Stephenson.Richard dedicated his professional life to caring for those in need as a Respiratory Therapist. His compassion and expertise touched countless lives, providing comfort and healing to patients and their families. His commitment to service extended beyond his career, as he was also a respected member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He took great pride in supporting the community and ensuring the safety of those on the water.A devout member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Richard was involved with the parish since its groundbreaking. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he contributed to the church community in countless ways over the years, building strong relationships and offering unwavering support to fellow parishioners.Richard will be remembered for his selflessness, dedication to others, and the deep impact he had on the lives of those around him. His legacy of service, love, and family will continue to inspire all who knew him.A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks, Islands Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Richard's life and share memories of the joy and kindness he brought into the world.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Richard's honor to The American Lung Association or the Alzheimer's Association
