A Life Story

Shirley C. Owens, age 79, of Garden City passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024.Mrs. Owens was born in Savannah on January 7, 1945, the daughter of the late Ruth and A.R. Lee. She was a 1963 graduate of Savannah High School and continued her formal education at South College. She retired from St. Joseph's/Candler where she worked as an Accounts Payable Analyst. She was a longtime member of Bible Baptist Church and was recently attending Pooler Bible Church. She was active with the Ed Young Senior Center. She enjoyed coloring, collecting dolls, and camping.Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Carol Webb and her granddaughter, Ashley. She is survived by her husband of 32 ½ years, Gerald "Jerry" Owens; children, Kimberly McKenzie Williamson, John A. McKenzie, Jr. (Janie), Anthony Owens, Elizabeth Sykes (Jeb), and David Owens (Danielle); grandchildren, Hayley, Olivia, Jeffrey, Madison, Kayley, Trey, Arianna, Kiley, and Grayson; and several great-grandchildren.A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Pooler Bible Church, 1204 US Highway 80 West Pooler, GA 31322.In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Pooler Bible Church, 1204 US Highway 80 West Pooler, GA 31322.
