A Life Story
Edwin "Ed" D. Robb passed away on October 29, 2024 in Clemson, SC. He was the only son of Edwin D. Robb and Elizabeth McHose Robb.Ed was raised in Merchantville, New Jersey and was a 1963 graduate of Dartmouth College. At Dartmouth, he was a member of the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity, aka, the original Animal House, and lettered on the Dartmouth Varsity Lacrosse team.Upon graduation from Dartmouth, Ed entered the U.S. Navy Officers Candidate Program and was commissioned as an Ensign in February 1964. On active duty, he served as a surface warfare officer line conning officer on two ships, USS Jerome County (LST-848) and USS Soley (DD-707).After leaving active duty in 1967, Ed attended the University of Georgia School of Law where he served on the editorial board of the Georgia Law Review.From 1970-2018, Ed was a member of the Savannah law firm, Bouhan, Williams & Levy-later, Bouhan Falligant. His specialty was admiralty and maritime law. As a partner in the firm, he attributed much of his success in maritime law to his seagoing service.Ed was always involved in sports, playing competitive tennis and lacrosse in his younger years, and coaching youth soccer for nearly ten years. While in Savannah, he remained active with the Savannah Navy League serving as the Judge Advocate and Ship Liaison Officer.Ed is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Kay Schuller Robb. Ed is survived by his three sons and their spouses David C. Robb (Cara), Clemson, SC; Charles S. Robb (Yumi), Higashi-Matsushima, Japan; and Michael A. Robb (Sara), Greenville, SC as well as seven grandchildren: Sanders Gaines, Crawford, Celia Jane, Athens, Ash, Emily and Ethan Robb.Graveside service will be private.
