    A Life Story

    Dr. Frank Arthur Bixler III, 73, died Monday, October 28, 2024 at Candler Hospital in Savannah, GA. He was born September 24, 1951 in Fort Riley, KS to the late Frank Arthur Bixler II and Marilyn Penn Bixler. He was an army brat moving around the country with his brothers and sister. Most notable was his time in Miami, FL and Corning, IA. Frank was a natural athlete playing football, baseball, basketball, and golf. After high school, Frank served his country as a sergeant in the United States Army. Frank met the love of his life, Patty Bixler, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, NE in 1977. They married on December 31, 1977 and were married for 47 years. After moving to South Georgia in 1978, Frank and Patty committed their lives to the Lord and embarked on a missionary calling to Mexico. While in Mexico, Frank was called to be a medical doctor. Dr. Bixler dedicated the remainder of his life to caring for his patients. He served in the town of Baxley, Macon, and Hazlehurst, GA. His greatest joy was caring for his patients, spending time with his grandchildren, and playing golf. Dr. Bixler was preceded by his parents, brother Mike Bixler and son Mark Bixler. Surviving is his wife Patty, Daughters Marcy (Craig) Bargstadt and Laura (Jason) Laney, son Jared (Nikki) Bixler; grandchildren Morgan (Jake) Bitonel, Mitchell (Whittnei) Bargstadt, Mason Bargstadt, Peyton Laney, Jacob Laney, and Benjamin Laney; great grandchildren Bixlei Bargstadt, Adison Bitonel, Harper Bitonel, and Beckett Bargstadt. Siblings Greg Bixler, Jack Bixler, Georgia Bixler Jensen, and Kevin Bixler.A private family ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 2nd at Gamble Funeral Service in Savannah, GA at 1 o'clock in the afternoon where the family will receive his ashes to be dispersed in Frank's favorite locations.For friends and family in Hazlehurst, a Memorial Service will take place in the sanctuary of Southside Baptist Church on November 17th from 2 until 4 o'clock in the afternoon.
