A Life Story

Maureen Becker O'Connor Ph.D., age 84, of Savannah, died Tuesday morning, August 4, 2026, at Harmony at Savannah under the care of Bridge Hospice and surrounded by her loving family. Dr. O'Connor was born on August 31, 1941, to the late Joseph A. Becker and the late Katherine Bernadette Godfrey Becker in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was a graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown, Ohio; Oakland University and The of University of Detroit with her Doctorate in Psychology. Dr. O'Connor attended The Cathedral Basilica of Saint John the Baptist and in her spare time she enjoyed playing the piano, painting, especially china, loved animals, and riding her horse, an American Saddlebred, named Horizon. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends. Dr. O'Connor was very kind and a loving and caring, wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by four siblings. She is survived by her husband of sixty-five years, Edward Dennis O'Connor; two children, Susan C. O'Connor and Timothy E. O'Connor and his wife Kerry; four grandchildren, Kaitlin, Colleen, Emily, and Audrey; one great-granddaughter, Sutton and two on the way; and four siblings, Margaret, Joseph, Richard, and Mary Jane. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at The Cathedral Basilica of Saint John the Baptist.
