    A Life Story

    Richard "Rich" Leonard Tincknell, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025, in Savannah, GA, at the age of 81. Born on November 11, 1943, in Auburn, NY, he was the cherished son of Barbara and Metford "Jimmy" Tincknell.Rich grew up with his sister Susan and late brother Greg in Weedsport, New York. He proudly served as an officer in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Rich graduated from both Cornell University and Syracuse University with honors.He built a beautiful life with his devoted wife of 46 years, Dianne, and together they raised two children, Amy and Matthew. Rich had a successful career in the insurance industry, earning respect through his integrous and helpful approach.Passionate about family, friends, and faith, Rich stayed active playing tennis, remained a loyal Syracuse Orange fan, and enjoyed reading and solving crossword puzzles with remarkable speed. He also cherished spending time with the men from his Sunday school class at First Baptist Church of the Islands, sharing fellowship and faith together.Rich will be remembered for his optimistic outlook, calm and quiet demeanor, and witty sense of humor. His devotion to Jesus was the foundation of his character, guiding him to treat others with honor, respect, and love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.He is survived by his wife Dianne, children Amy Smith (Jason - Bluffton, SC) and Matthew (Melissa - Milton, GA), his grandchildren Savannah, Summer, Mary Claire, Gregory, and James, and his sister Susan Rossi (David - Skaneateles, NY), as well as other beloved extended family.A Celebration of Life will be led by Pastor Brooks Cail at First Baptist Church of the Islands on Wilmington Island on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 1:00pm. Reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude's, Tunnel to Towers, First Baptist Church of the Islands, or a ministry of your choice.
