A Life Story

Our hearts are broken, but we are so thankful that Mom, Sandra Duckworth Tarpley, has gone to Glory and is now reunited with her beloved husband, Raymond Eugene Tarpley, who preceded her in death.Sandra Duckworth Tarpley passed away and went to be with Jesus December 27, 2024, after a very long, hard fight with Dementia. She finally won the battle and is free from this horrific disease and walking the streets of Gold, free from the pain and suffering she has endured. A heart of gold and everyone's favorite, Mom was a Homemaker after marrying at 17 while still in high school. She always took the best care of her FAMILY - her greatest passion. She loved fiercely. Her next greatest passion was going shopping on Friday ALL DAY LONG and just browsing. She didn't care if she bought anything, she just wanted to be at the Mall and have a kids chick-fil-a or Auntie Anne's Pretzel for lunch.Mom was also very health conscious and loved to exercise, and while she was healthy, she would walk 5 miles a day.A charter member of Skidaway Island Baptist Church, Mom moved her membership to First Baptist Church of Pooler where she was a member at the time of her death.Preceding her in death was her husband, Raymond Eugene Tarpley, son, Jimmy Eugene Tarpley, and her parents, James F. and Ruth L. Duckworth and her brother, Kenneth Wayne Duckworth. She is survived by her loving daughter, Joyce McAllister (Scott), her granddaughters, Morgan Ellzey Marie (Chris) and Brandi Tarpley Bittner (Shawn), a sister Pamela Duckworth-Fowler, her great-grandchildren, Isaac, Ryleigh, and Noah Bittner, Hayden Lane Marie and daughter-in-law Beth Tarpley and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly.The family would like to thank the staff of Spanish Oaks Memory Care and Spanish Oaks Hospice for the care given to her and also The Social where she spent time before her Dementia progressed.Everyone loved Mom, and I never knew her to do anything wrong. In my eyes, she was as close to perfect as I have ever known. When something or someone angered her, and she felt the need to say a "cuss word," she would just spell it out loud. She couldn't actually say it. She was beautiful inside and out, and I am so honored to have been her daughter. She will be so missed, but I am so thankful Jesus called her home and she is free from the unimaginable mind-stealer called Dementia. Thank you, Jesus. Honoring her as her pallbearers are Chris Marie, Howard Spiva, Isaac Bittner, Noah Bittner, Glenn Sikes, and Peter Brennan.
