    A Life Story

Donald Thomas “Tommy” Creech, 88, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 21, 1937, in Savannah, Georgia, Tommy was the son of the late Ivan Donaldson Creech and Pauline Carter Creech. He graduated from Commercial High School, Class of 1956 and was an active member of The Cobra Club. Tommy faithfully served his country in the Georgia Air National Guard for 8 years. In his early years, Tommy worked alongside his parents at Creech’s Market, delivering groceries throughout the community. Later, he built a successful career as a pipefitter and welder through Local 188, where he also shared his knowledge and expertise by teaching welding to others. Tommy was a devoted Christian who faithfully served as a Deacon at Bible Baptist Church and most recently attended and served as Deacon at Calvary Baptist Temple. He had a passion for sharing the love of Christ with others, often visiting and encouraging those in need. He never missed an opportunity to share his personal testimony and his faith in Jesus with anyone who needed hope and encouragement. Above all, Tommy loved his family. He cherished his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the beach, boating, water skiing, and creating lasting memories on family vacations. Tommy worked hard and played hard, and his life was a testimony of faith whether at home, at work, at church, or simply sharing a meal with loved ones. He faithfully prayed with and for his family and lived out his Christian faith every day. Tommy is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Lawanda Vause Creech, with whom he would have celebrated 67 years of marriage on June 28. He is also survived by his son, Tom Creech (Lisa Bryant) of Jacksonville, Florida; his daughters, Melanie Thornton (Dave) of Newnan, Georgia, and Tamra Pevey (Tim) of Statesboro, Georgia; his grandchildren, Keith Lewis, Jennifer Carley (Jeremy), Josh Pevey (Chelsey), Zak Pevey, Naomi Hardy (Mason), Dr. Kellen Creech (Dr. Lindsey Creech); and his great-grandchildren, McKayla Carley, Eli Carley, Vida Lewis, Lane Marie Pevey, Anna Kate Pevey, Emma Pevey, Beau Hardy, Maelee Hardy, and Killian Creech. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Fox & Weeks, Hodgson Memorial Chapel. A funeral service celebrating Tommy’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Fox & Weeks, Hodgson Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Kenny Grant and Rev. Vincent Whalen officiating. Graveside Services will follow at Hillcrest Abbey East, 1600 Wheaton Street, Savannah, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Tommy.
