John Ward September 7, 1945 – June 11, 2026 John Ward, 80, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, in Savannah, Georgia. Born on September 7, 1945, in Manchester, England, John spent his early years there, where he completed an apprenticeship through Radcliffe Technical College. In 1979, John and his family immigrated to the United States, beginning a new chapter filled with hard work, perseverance, and devotion to family. A lifelong learner, John later earned an Associate Degree in Information Technology from Tidewater Community College. He was known for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and deep love for his family. John was preceded in death by his parents William and Mary Margaret (Turner) Ward, and his brother Michael. Also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dinah Ward, who passed away in 2019. Their marriage formed the foundation of a close and loving family. He is survived by his son, Mark Ward and his wife, Charlotte Ward, and their daughter, Valerie Ward of Savannah, Georgia; his daughter, Michelle Wharton and her two sons, Grayson Blake and Liam Wharton; and his daughter, Liz Gomez and her daughter, Hayley Gomez, all of Virginia Beach, Virginia; sister Angela, and brother Andrew of the UK. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Angus, who brought him comfort and companionship. John enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He loved watching soccer, listening to music, and spending time on YouTube. He also enjoyed visiting local pubs, where he could relax with a burger, fries, and a beer, surrounded by familiar faces and comfortable surroundings. John also enjoyed traveling and experiencing different parts of the world. Among his memorable journeys were trips to China in April 1986 and Russia in September 2021, experiences that reflected his curiosity and appreciation for learning about other cultures. John will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His life reflected resilience, love, and dedication to those closest to him, and his memory will live on through the family he cherished. The family invites all who knew John to a Celebration of Life at Basil’s (216 Johnny Mercer Blvd) on July 11th from 2-4pm. May he rest in peace, reunited with his beloved Dinah. ❤️
