A Life Story

William Battle Moseley, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home the morning of March 3, 2025 at the age of 54. He was a native of Tybee Island and although he is gone, he will live in our hearts forever. He was preceded in death by his parents, David & Sandra Cornelius; daughter, Jennifer Lee Lauber; and in-laws, Linda and Donald LampoHe is survived by his wife, Tina; his children; Jessica Lauber, Cory Lauber (Heather), Elizabeth Speir (Greg), Mariah Croegaert, Stephanie Moseley (Bri), and Nicholas Croegaert (Danielle). He is also survived by his grandchildren; Chrystian Gordon, Alyanna Lauber, Thomas Lauber, Sheldon Holloway, Will Jones, Donna Jones, Brantley Lauber, Wyatt Lee, Julianna Lee, and Brian Speir.Additionally, he is survived by his parents, William B. Moseley, Sr. & Margaret Moseley, and his siblings; Lyn Meree Northup, Dennis Cornelius (Jackie), Danny Cornelius (Paula), Michelle Fletcher, Theresa Gorby (Brian), Kimberly Fickes (Mark), Mathew Cornelius (Michele), Diane Perkins (Corey), John Adams, Dawn Glaudel (Brian), David Lampo (Shanna), and Crystal Lampo.William faithfully and with his whole heart served the community of Tybee Island as a Police officer for 31 years (June 1992 -August 2023), working his way from a dispatcher to a Major at his time of retirement. He additionally served his community as a volunteer member of the Tybee Island Fire Department as a Firefighter and First Responder, as well as a volunteer with the Tybee Island Marine Rescue Squadron. He was a member of the Savannah Technical College Criminal Justice Advisory Board and a founding member of the Maritime Law Enforcement Task Force. Although his service to community didn't end there; he too was a member of the Tybee Lite Shrine Club and The Tybee Masonic Lodge 762. After his retirement in 2023, William devoted his life fully to his family, spending most of his days with his precious grandchildren. He quickly became fond of his latest roll as Mr. Mom for his grandchildren; Chrystian, Alyanna, Wyatt, and Julianna. When he wasn't running around chasing babies, he enjoyed construction work and any opportunity to create or make something new. His love for the Dallas Cowboys almost equally measured his love for his three fur babies: Mackenzie, Madeline, and Maximus. Whether you needed a wise counselor, a helping hand, or wanted to bring the life of the party, William knew how to deliver. He was adored by all walks of life, both on Tybee Island and beyond. His boundless optimism and positivity was contagious and he never met a stranger. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 7th between 4pm-7pm at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 8th at 10 am at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Tybee Island. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery. In true William fashion, a Celebration of Life will be held following the burial service at the American Legion- Tybee Island on Saturday, March 8th at 3:00pm, at which time we welcome to the microphone all who would like to share their favorite anecdote or remembrance. We invite everyone to come ready to celebrate this man who was such an amazing example of selfless love. Come dressed in the colors of his favorite football team….Dem Boyz!William's legacy will live on by constantly reminding us that small acts of service to others can change an entire community for the better.
