A Life Story

Carolyn E. Ruiz of Pooler, GA, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026 at the age of 84. She is preceded in death by parents Robert and Ruth Dugger Enecks, husband of 53 years Charles T. Ruiz, and son Charles T. Ruiz, Jr. She is survived by sons John Williams (Stephanie), Joseph Williams, and Michael Ruiz; sister Roberta Kent (Travis); grandchildren Evan and Emma Williams, Selena, Brandon, Michelle, Mandy, and Maria Ruiz; 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Carolyn was among the first graduating class of Groves High School of 1959 where she was a member of the Beta Club and Anchor Club. She then attended Bolen-Draughon College and received a Secretarial Administration Diploma. She would later retire from a nearly 40-year career at Union Camp where she worked in the Payroll Department. Carolyn was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Port Wentworth, GA. Over many years she served on the Homebound Committee, Bereavement Committee, Homecoming Committee, and Wednesday Night Supper Committee. When her sons were in high school, she also served as the secretary for the football team booster club and treasurer of the band booster club. She also enjoyed volunteering as an election poll monitor. The family wishes to thank the staff at The Oaks at Pooler and Hospice Savannah. The family also sends a special thank you to friend Patty Kirby, and neighbors David Fogle and the Burchett family.
