A Life Story

Mr. Herbert Jasper Fordham, 84, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025.Jasper was born in Bulloch County and had lived in Pooler for a number of years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Fordham and Bertha Akins Fordham; sister, Ruth Fordham Eitel, and his brother-in-law, J.B. Eitel, Jr. He worked in retail for 50 years. He started with Western Auto, spent most of his career at Kmart on Victory Drive, before retiring from Walmart at the age of 72. He enjoyed golfing, was an avid reader, particularly of military history, gardening, listening to music, and taking drives in his car.Survivors include his daughter, Marsha Fordham Varnadoe; granddaughter, Devin A. Varnadoe, as well as several nieces and nephews.The visitation will be on Friday, March 28, 2025 from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral to honor Jasper's life will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Mr. Larry Carver, Jasper's lifelong friend, officiating.
