A Life Story

Marion “David” Meeks, a beloved partner, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26th, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on August 18th,1953, in Smithville, Tennessee, David lived a life marked by dedication, love, and generosity. Throughout his life, David demonstrated an unwavering commitment to his family, friends, and community. David grew up and spent most of his life in Daytona, Florida. After retirement, David moved to Savannah, Georgia, where he continued to bring joy and wisdom to those around him. David retired as a Supervisor from the State of Florida Department of Transportation, Volusia County. His career also included many years working at the renowned Daytona Motor Speedway. David pursued many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing golf, and flying kites. A family man at heart, he was loving, determined, and generous. David coached his children’s sports team during their formative years, sharing not only his skills but his passion for teamwork and determination. He leaves behind his devoted life partner, Susan Scott Mason, and his cherished children: Joseph D. Meeks, Spencer A. Meeks, Hilary M. Ho and Alex Mason. . David also leaves his sister, sister-in-law, numerous beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of family and friends who will miss him dearly. David was preceded in death by his parents, Marion David Meeks and Josie Geneva Hayes Meeks, his sons, David P. Meeks and Michael D. Meeks, and his brother, James Meeks. David will be remembered for his indelible spirit, his loving nature, and his profound impact on those who knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and all who had the privilege to know him. Honoring David's wishes, there will be no services at this time.
