A Life Story

Sandra M. Heiser, 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.Sandy was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, the oldest child of Avery, "Jack" and Mabel (Baker) Miller. Sandy attended Ohio University where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and received her BS in Education.In 1966, Sandy married her high school sweetheart, William, "Bill" Heiser in Madeira. Sandy was a teacher for over 20 years and after moving to Savannah in 1998, continued to work with teachers in the area. She also volunteered with the Make A Wish foundation granting wishes to children fighting critical illnesses. Bill and Sandy celebrated 50 years of marriage just before he passed away in 2017.Sandy leaves behind her son, Todd Heiser (Karen); daughter Jodi Heiser Meyers (Randy); granddaughter Abby Heiser; brother Avery, "Jay" Miller (Holly); several nieces and nephews and many additional friends and loved ones.Join us in celebrating the joy Sandy brought to our lives at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at The Marshes of Skidaway Island, 95 Skidaway Island Park Road, Savannah, GA 31411.In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Sandy's memory to The Exceptional Foundation, 1616 Oxmoor Rd, Homewood AL 35209 or Hospice Savannah, 1352 Eisenhower Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.
